being 3
Dear Boo,
I can’t believe you are 3.5! This year has been so much fun. You are more of a kid than you ever were, no longer a toddler or a baby at all. You are the most amazing little 3 year old ever! This year a lot has happened for you… you settled into your role as a big brother, you fell in love with going to school, and you’ve become so much more independent. Diapers and sippy cups seem like ancient history. You do so many things by yourself now, I am so proud and happy for you, but also incredibly sad that your baby years went so fast… I feel like you have truly taken the first steps to really growing up this year. I love the little boy you’ve become. I love that you are FUNNY! You always have had the best sense of humor. You make everybody laugh! You love to tell knock-knock jokes, even though they don’t always make sense, you still make us crack up! Your heart is warm and you are incredibly loving to all of your family. I hope you are always affectionate like this. It is so pure and honest and real. You love to snuggle with me and daddy. And when you say I LOVE YOU, I can feel in my heart that you mean it. You have such a spirit, so energetic, so joyful and so alive. This, you have never lost- but now, since you are maturing, you are able to decide when to be still. You really are such a big boy. Your intelligence and memory continue to astound us. But what is most incredible is your heart. You are not just growing, but you are truly maturing.
You still love the color yellow and have since you could say the word at age 1 (“yedow”, and then “ye-whoa”). No other color could fit your personality better. Bright, exuberant and happy. Your favorite foods are crunchy tacos (just like Daddy), and of course any kind of crab, lobster or shrimp. You still LOVE vegetables and fruit so much! You still love the Little Einsteins and continue to learn about world monuments from them! A few months ago we went to Seattle and you were so happy to get to see the Space Needle!
I am excited for what the future holds for you and for us as a family. Being a big boy means big boy fun- like going to the movies and bowling. We recently went on a date night- just you and me. We went bowling with friends, had dinner and then we went to see the movie WALL-E. You’re so much fun and such a sweet gentleman! You get so into the story, your eyes are glued to the screen and your mouth is ajar the whole show! We held hands during the exciting parts of the movie, and your raspy deep voice could be heard throughout the theater when you just couldn’t contain yourself! People would chuckle when you would say something or ask a question. I couldn’t believe you stayed awake for the entire 2 hour movie because it went well past your bedtime. We walked out of the theater and you were so happy. You kept saying, “Thank you for our date Mommy!” I have to say this was one of the best nights of my life and one I will always remember. My little man, I can’t believe you are mine. I am so blessed to be loved by you. You are the boy that stole my heart. And no wonder because you are so much like your Daddy. You even insist on having spiky hair so you can be “just like Daddy”. You talk about one day being a Daddy all the time. You have an amazing role model to show you the way.
Isaiah, every year with you is such a precious gift to me. You have so many amazing sides to you at the tender age of 3. My son, I love you through and through and always will.
Love,
Mama
