Rear facing vs. Forward facing CSR
Calling all moms! (and moms to be)
Please check this out! Since Isaiah is 1 year old and 20 lbs, I was excited at the prospect of turning him forward in the car! These are the minimum requirements in the US to turn a child to Forward Facing. But something inside me told me to do my research before making the switch and I am so glad I did!
I went on www.babycenter.com and really got educated. There is a great group of moms on the message boards who have really done their homework on the subject and are encouraging people to Rear Face their child for as long as possible. I studied the information and what I saw was pretty shocking! Here is a great website on why you should keep your child Rear facing as long as possible, or as long as your car seat's maximum weight in RF allows. Please scroll down and watch the crash test videos on the site. They will shock you.
Mine goes up to 30 lbs. so I doubt I will be turning Isaiah until well after he is 2! I was sad at first, but after seeing the crash test footage, I know I am making the right decision. His safety is the most important thing to me!
